Students programming a collaborative robot arm in a lab

Programme

Robotics Operations and Maintenance Technician

Install, program, maintain and repair robotic systems.

What you work on.

First semester

  • Robot systems and safe operation
  • Motors, sensors and control
  • Programming and fault finding
  • Work cells and maintenance records

A typical week is 3 classes and 3 practical workshops, covering operation and technical work. Each session is 3 hours. There are at most 2 sessions a day and at most 3 days a week.

Assessment is based on problem-solving and teamwork across real projects.

  • Robotic arms, grippers and mobile robots
  • Motors, actuators, gears and drives
  • Sensors, encoders and feedback
  • Robot programming and control logic
  • Cameras and machine vision
  • Calibration, maintenance and fault diagnosis
  • Safety systems and emergency stops
  • Conveyors and automated work cells

Who it is for.

For people who enjoy machines, electronics and finding out how things work. You do not need previous robotics experience.

You learn how mechanics, electronics, sensors and software combine in a working robot. You operate, program, maintain, test and troubleshoot those systems.

Where it can lead.

Robotics, robot integration, automation, maintenance, mobile robot operation, machine vision and technical service.
